Specialist Fusion Bonded Epoxy Pipe Coating
Northpoint provides specialist Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) pipe coating for pipes, fittings and valves, including DWI-approved linings for drinking-water applications. As an approved Resicoat FBE applicator, we provide durable internal and external corrosion protection for water infrastructure, offshore, oil and gas and other demanding applications.
FBE Coating for Pipes, Fittings and Valves
Northpoint is the UK market leader in protective anti-corrosion coatings for water treatment and supply pipework and valves. We have delivered Fusion Bonded Epoxy pipe coating solutions since the 1980s, supporting customers across water supply and treatment, offshore, oil and gas and hydrogen applications.
As the UK’s largest independent Resicoat FBE applicator, we work with pipework fabricators and customers worldwide. Our project portfolio spans Australia, the USA, South America and the Middle East, demonstrating extensive experience across international projects and demanding operating environments.
FBE provides a tough, durable barrier against corrosion, moisture and chemical exposure. We coat a wide range of components, including pipes and fabricated fittings, valves, submersible pump risers, fire hydrants, static mixers and specialist industrial components, with internal and external coating available for suitable applications.
Pipe Coating Capability
Our dedicated FBE coating facility can process pipes and components up to 6.0m long, 2.5m in diameter and 3,000kg in weight. Internal and external coatings can be applied using fluidised-bed technology, depending on the component and coating requirements.
The facility can accommodate bespoke components and specialist coating requirements, supporting both standard production and smaller or specialised batches. For urgent requirements, pipe and valve coating can be completed in as little as 6 hours by prior agreement, subject to the coating specification and production capacity.
FBE Pipe Coating for Drinking Water Infrastructure
Northpoint is one of only a handful of UK companies capable of applying pipe coatings that meet Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) requirements for drinking-water applications. Our DWI-approved FBE systems include Resicoat R4 HKC71R and Eurokote 468 Thixo, with Resicoat Aqua Green also available for suitable potable-water applications.
These systems provide durable internal protection for pipework and fittings, supporting long-term asset performance and, where specified, a 50-year asset life. We can work to WIS 4-52-01 requirements, with controlled application, coating quality and documentation aligned to the demands of critical water infrastructure.
Resicoat FBE systems have an established track record across water supply and treatment applications and can also be applied externally where additional corrosion protection, colour coding or UV screening is required.
Supporting AMP8 Water Infrastructure Projects
AMP8 is driving significant investment in UK water infrastructure, creating demand for durable, compliant pipework and corrosion protection. Northpoint’s specialist DWI-approved FBE capability positions us to support water utilities and Tier 1 contractors delivering AMP8 projects.
With experience in potable-water pipe coatings, approved FBE systems and the capacity to process large pipework and components, Northpoint can provide a specialist coating service for projects where long-term asset performance and compliance are critical.
FBE Coating for Offshore, Oil & Gas and Industrial Applications
Our FBE pipe coating services also support demanding offshore, marine, oil and gas, hydrogen pipeline and industrial applications. FBE provides primary corrosion protection where pipework and components are exposed to challenging operating environments.
Northpoint has applied FBE coating to a wide range of specialist components. Our technical team can advise on the appropriate FBE coating system based on the substrate, service conditions, required specification and intended application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our pipe coating service. Cannot see what you need? Call +44 (0)161 330 4551.
What is the maximum pipe size you can coat?
Our pipe coating line can accommodate pipes up to 6.0m long, 2.9m in diameter and 4,000kg (4 tonnes) in weight. FBE can be applied using fluidised bed technology for both internal and external coatings, depending on the specific component and coating requirements.
What pipe coating products and approvals do you hold?
Northpoint is the UK's largest independent Resicoat applicator, applying Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) systems including AkzoNobel Resicoat. We hold DWI approval for Resicoat R4 HKC71R and Eurokote 468 Thixo for drinking-water applications, supporting projects that require DWI-approved pipe linings.
What applications is FBE pipe coating used for?
FBE coating protects the internal and external surfaces of pipes, fittings, and valves used in water supply and treatment, oil and gas, offshore, and hydrogen pipelines. This includes fabricated fittings, pump risers, fire hydrants and static mixers.
How quickly can you turn around pipe coating?
Turnaround depends on the volume, coating specification and current production capacity. By prior agreement, we can prioritise urgent pipe-coating work where possible, with support from stocked coating materials and access to local suppliers. We also offer in-house collection and delivery to help keep projects moving. Contact us with your deadline, and we will confirm what is achievable.
Can you provide DWI-approved pipe linings for AMP8 water infrastructure?
Yes. Northpoint is one of only a small number of UK companies with the specialist capability to provide drinking-water pipe coatings meeting DWI requirements. We can apply approved FBE systems for potable water applications and work to relevant water industry requirements, including WIS 4-52-01, supporting water utilities and contractors delivering AMP8 infrastructure projects.
