We would like to officially introduce the newest member of our team, Matthew Walton. Today, we asked Matthew some questions about his new role at Northpoint.
Q: Matthew, what is your role at Northpoint and what does it involve?
A: Northpoint has had incredible successes over the last half century by providing exceptional coating services to customers, encouraging them to continually choose us as their powder coating partner. I am here to harness that excellence and explore how we can grow the business in our key markets whilst also looking at new opportunities to increase our coating capabilities in markets we haven’t worked in yet. There is a huge amount of potential at Northpoint which was one of the main reasons why I was delighted to join the team last month. To begin with I will be speaking with customers of all shapes and sizes along with defining a sales strategy to drive Northpoint towards our long-term growth targets. I will also be working to make sure sales and marketing align to our goals and support the marketing team where necessary.
Q: How has your experience at Northpoint been so far and what are you most looking forward to?
A: Everyone in the office has made me feel extremely welcome and part of the team. It’s clear to see how hard everyone works and the impact that has on our output. That creates a great working environment where everyone wants to work towards the company’s goals.
I am looking forward to the point where some of the technical information starts to stick in my brain! It’s a steep learning curve but one I am constantly pushing myself to achieve. Having the vast amount of experience in the office is definitely helping with that. I am also looking forward to meeting new businesses and supporting them with their projects over the coming years.
Q: You recently attended 2 exhibitions on behalf of Northpoint, tell us about that experience.
A: I have spent a lot of time at exhibitions in previous roles, mostly as an exhibitor so it was nice to be on the other side for a change. It was a process of consuming information for the 3 days I was at the 2 shows. As I’ve come from the engineering industry, I know a lot about the challenges that companies face but having a new Northpoint hat on has given me a new perspective and both exhibitions gave me an insight into different areas that Northpoint need to consider.
Q: Are there any plans for the future that our customers can look forward to?
A: Our immediate future involves a new wet paint booth which we are excited to install in the coming weeks. It will be 14m long which increases our capacity for wet paint coating at an exciting time for the business. This is a much-needed step as we have seen demand for wet paint services increase over the last year and allows us to double capacity and complete work more efficiently. We are also happy to be joining the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce in July. This will give us a great opportunity to build our network of local business contacts and I am excited to start attending events across the region. There will be more exciting developments over the next few months and our LinkedIn page will keep everyone updated on our progress moving forward.
