Sector/Industry: Steel Floor Grating
Company: Meiser UK (on behalf of Project Owner)
Meiser UK was looking for a coating system that would meet the requirements of the Project Owner’s supplied confidential Paint & Coatings Specification for use on steel floor gratings.
The coatings applied not only had to meet the supplied specification but had to provide electrical insulation. The Project Owner is building a factory extension for the manufacture of silicone chips to be used in PC’s and cannot afford for the build-up and discharge of static electricity.
Northpoint was awarded the contract due to previous projects, providing coating expertise in supplying Meiser UK for the same Project Owner for the same service and coating solution. Northpoint has supplied flooring grid coatings that have been used in both the Lexlip, Eire and Kiryat Gat & Jerusalem, Israel facilities run by the Project Owner.
On this occasion Northpoint partnered with Meiser UK and two other Eire based fabrication companies providing a service package that included Quality Plans, and Inspection Test Plans. Internally Northpoint ensured inspection levels were in line with the ISO 9001 QMS and the Paint & Coating Specification provided.
This project also includes ‘drive on plates’ which are designed to have a flat plate on top of the flooring grid. This then requires an additional coating process where a grey epoxy is painted on and then an aggregate component added. The effect being that the surface is rough and robust with the purpose of allowing under tyre grip for when mobile equipment drives onto the gridded areas.
Northpoint has a dedicated team of staff for this type of project which includes Suna Miah, the Operational Supervisor who’s supported by a trained team of operatives and a NACE II qualified Inspector.
