Why the Urban Infrastructure sector needs protective coatings
Northpoint offering protective coating for urban infrastructure. Urban infrastructure is the backbone of modern cities, encompassing everything from bridges and railings to street furniture and lighting fixtures. These structures not only need to withstand daily wear and tear but also endure harsh environmental conditions.
Left unprotected, urban infrastructure is highly susceptible to corrosion, degradation, and premature failure, leading to safety risks, higher maintenance costs, and shorter lifespans.
At Northpoint, we understand the critical role protective coating for urban infrastructure plays in preservation and enhancement. Our advanced powder coating solutions provide a durable, eco-friendly, sustainable, and aesthetically versatile layer of protection. Designed to resist corrosion, abrasions, and the elements, our coatings ensure long-lasting performance and minimal upkeep, while contributing to the structural integrity and visual appeal of our cities.
With so many possible coating specifications, we work with our customers to determine the right system for each project. Please see ISO 12944 for further guidance.

Process Northpoint would go through to coat
We follow a meticulous powder coating process to ensure every project meets the highest standards of durability, performance, and aesthetic quality.
Here’s how we transform your urban infrastructure components with a flawless protective finish:
Surface preparation: The surface is thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, grease, and contaminants that could affect coating adhesion. We also do a pre-treatment to eliminate rust, old coatings, and imperfections while enhancing surface texture for better adhesion.
Masking and inspection: Areas not requiring coating are carefully masked off to ensure a clean application and the prepared surface is inspected to confirm it meets our standards.
Powder application: Once the surface is prepared, the powder coating is evenly applied, and it adheres uniformly to the surface, creating a seamless layer. Our customers can choose from a wide range of colours, textures, and finishes to suit their design and project specifications.
Curing: The coated part is then placed in a curing oven, where the powder is heated to bond securely to the surface, forming a smooth, hardened layer. This step ensures optimal durability and resistance to wear and tear and corrosion.
Quality assurance: Every coated part undergoes a thorough quality check to ensure proper coverage, adhesion, thickness, and finish.
Delivery: Once the process is complete, our customers’ components are packaged for safe delivery
Urban Infrastructure Case Studies & Testimonials
“Our filter cages are used in dust extraction systems, this particular job required filter cages that could cope with a slightly acidic/alkaline filter environment with elevated working temperatures, we use Northpoint’s epoxy polyester coating because we can rely on their product quality and process thoroughness from start to finish making sure the coating properly adheres to the wire surface thus maximising cage life inside the filter. The staff work efficiently and have quick turnarounds to ensure our product is delivered on time. All our cages that require epoxy coating are sent to Northpoint as they have the experience and knowledge we require.”
